The CANARI Reference Library
The CANARI Reference Library houses approximately six thousand titles specialised in themes relevant to the work of the Institute. Its collection is largely composed of materials specific to the Caribbean region, and is particularly strong in the following areas: common-property resources, co-management; forestry; coral reefs; local institutions; protected areas; public participation; rural development; and tourism. The documents in the collection include periodical and serial publications, reference materials, texts, theses, conference and symposium proceedings, reports, unpublished literature, brochures, newsletters, annual reports, bibliographies, and audiovisual material. The collection has been greatly expanded through support from the United Kingdom's Department for International Development in the Caribbean, the Commonwealth Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, and Ramsar Convention Bureau/Wetlands for the Future Initiative.

The CANARI Reference Library is not a lending library and is open to visitors by appointment only.

Database Searches
The CANARI collection has been entered into a continually updated CDS/ISIS 1.311 for Windows database. CANARI provides database searches upon request at a cost of US$10 each delivered by e-mail or a 3½" diskette.

Reports and Publications
A selection of CANARI's publications is available as Acrobat PDF files. Use the link above to download the Acrobat reader. CANARI's primary working language is English, however, some documents are available in Spanish and French.

Ordering Information
Orders must be prepaid, by international money order or by a cheque drawn on a US or Eastern Caribbean bank. Trinidad and Tobago dollar cheques will be accepted locally.

Please request a pro forma invoice from CANARI via e-mail or in writing from our main office, indicating the author, title, date and quantity.

Obtaining Hard Copies
Published CANARI books and dossiers are only available in summary on this website and must be purchased directly from the CANARI office, prices are indicated on the order form. Also, less recent publications are not available in PDF format on this website, and only in hard copy format. If you would like copies of any documents not available in PDF format, send your request to CANARI by email, indicating the name of the author, the title, and date. A pro forma invoice is sent in response to orders, and documents are mailed upon receipt of payment.

CANARI charges a fee for duplicating documents and shipping and packaging. (see below)

Photocopying
Copies of available documents and database searches cost US$0.10/EC$0.25/ TT$0.50 per page for single copies and US$0.15/ EC$0.40/ TT$0.75 for backed pages.

Shipping and Handling
A 20% charge is included for documents sent via surface mail and a 40% charge for airmail.

Other services
CANARI provides a range of reference and information services upon request, including: preparation of bibliographies; referrals; and on the spot consultation.
