    This document is based on a report prepared by CANARI as part of an EC-HIVOS funded project entitled Improving governance and civil society participation in natural resource management in the Caribbean.  It explains the importance of participation in the governance of civil society organisations, identifies the common challenges faced by these organisations within the Caribbean region and seeks to provide suggestions for the way forward.
